The realisation of glass stairs is based on the whole glass principle. Thus steel acts merely as a binding element in these constructions – and then only to a limited extent.

The suitability of the elements – especially in a laminated condition – in respect of the cover and shape behaviour of the glass steps and sides plays an important role here. Sufficient resistance safety in the event of damage, while the construction is light and transparent, are particular challenges.

Stairs are the business card of a building and dominate the entrance area – as is the case in the Apple Flagship stores with their pioneering stairs and bridge constructions made from whole glass.
