Glasstec 21.10.-25.10.2008

A perfect fusion: A timeless, elegant transparency links old and new in the Apple Store in Glasgow. Although it is suspended freely in space, the staircase does not obstruct the view of the structure and beauty of the historic architecture. Chemically tempered glass ensures an optical quality  completely free of distortion that is ideally suited to this purpose. The result is a filigree structure that nonetheless ensures a high degree of stability.

The coordination of the connecting elements also plays a significant role – especially relating to the lamination technique. Its expansion and deformation behaviour were precisely coordinated and required extensive experience.

The design stands for the exceptional quality of the eye-catching Apple Stores all over the world – be it in Osaka, inside the famous glass cube on 5th Avenue in New York, or here in Glasgow, Scotland.
