Glasstec 21.10.-25.10.2008

Light and colour – all live on this planet is based on these simple resources, be it on a physical basis, or as an inspiration. It was a consequent and quite natural idea to implement these principles in the design of the renown Queen Mary University of London. Erected in 1995 following the merger of the Medical College of the St. Bartholomew's Hospital and the London Hospital Medical College, the new home offers an inspiring design and truly lively colours.

Alsop Architects committed Seele for the pavilion building, the "plant wall" building and the link bridge. The glass panes are fixed only horizontal onto transoms via pressure plates and are vertically sealed. The transoms itself are fixed via brackets onto the primary steel. A warm and welcoming feeling, not only because of the colours, but also by a clearly visible supporting structure that complements the artistic and lively approach.
