Set amidst expansive parkland within the Irish county of limerick this administrative building provides a unique solution to the competing demands of client-bodies.
Whilst architect Bucholz McEvoy’s primary objective was to design a modern landmark building, which harmoniously blended with the natural surroundings, the new headquarters of the local authority had, also, to adhere to extensive ecological constraints. Seele’s high quality façade system - combining steel, glass and timber elements - served to address both the noted concerns, perfectly catering for all aesthetic and functional considerations.
The main feature of the building is the 75m long and 18m high steel and glass atrium which, when coupled with the outer sunshade construction made from wooden blinds, gives the new head quarters an unmistakable face. The façade system, developed and produced by Seele, provides the energy “comfort” of the building – contributing greatly to the effective management of the internal environment.
This project is striking example of the variety of possible applications of glass and steel constructions.
