The longest part of air-travel is arguably the time spent waiting on the ground. With this in mind architect Koch and Partner designed the new Terminal 2 at Munich Airport to enable this time to pass as comfortably as possible.
Connected to, yet structurally and functionally independent of, the Munich Airport Centre the design for Terminal 2 includes a generous glass roof that serves to flood the central check-in area with natural sunlight, creating a passenger-friendly environment.
Seele successfully designed, manufactured and installed all cladding system elements, including 6 saddle roof constructions (134 m x 12 m) and 2 domed roof constructions (134 x 6 m). Overall, approximately 11,000 m2 of insulating glass provides heat and sun shade.
